Independent candidate's name will be on ballot for Pennsylvania Supreme Court
Independent Supreme Court candidate Paul P. Panepinto will appear on the November ballot, his campaign said Tuesday, after his nominating petitions went unchallenged.
Panepinto, a Philadelphia Common Pleas Court judge for the last 24 years, ran as a Republican for the Supreme Court in 2007 and 2009 and for Commonwealth Court in 2011. Panepinto filed 28,000 signatures on nomination papers in Harrisburg last week, nearly double the 16,639 signatures Independent candidates need from registered voters to appear on the Nov. 3 general election ballot.
Voters in the May 19 primary election nominated three Democrats and three Republicans to compete for the seats.
The Pennsylvania Bar Association recommended Panepinto for Commonwealth Court, Superior Court, and Supreme Court. He did not run in the primary election.
